BRILLIANTINSIGHT

BrilliantInsight — Business Intelligence Suite

Connect your systems, model the numbers once, and give every level of the organisation the same trusted figure — on the desktop, on a mobile briefing, or embedded in your own application.

What BrilliantInsight is

BrilliantInsight is a business intelligence platform: connectors into your operational systems, scheduled extraction and transformation, a governed semantic layer where each measure is defined once, and self-service dashboards on top. It is bought by finance directors, chief operating officers, heads of strategy and public-sector permanent secretaries — anyone who has sat in a meeting where three departments produced three different revenue figures and the meeting became an argument about the numbers instead of a decision.

The problem is not a shortage of data. Nigerian organisations of any size have plenty: a core banking system, a payroll, a revenue platform, a hospital system, spreadsheets everywhere. The problem is that each report is assembled by a different analyst, from a different extract, using a different definition of the same word. When "active customer" means one thing in operations and another in finance, no dashboard will save you. BrilliantInsight fixes the definition in a semantic layer that every dashboard, export and application must go through, so the argument happens once, in writing, and then stops.

The suite is built on open, well-supported components — PostgreSQL and columnar storage, Apache Airflow for orchestration, dbt-style transformation models under version control — assembled and supported by our Data and AI practice, which is led by Dr. Yakubu Sale Karaye. We are not reselling a licence and disappearing: the models we build are readable, documented and yours, and your own analysts are trained to extend them.

For clients who cannot place their data in anyone else’s cloud — banks, revenue authorities, defence-adjacent agencies, hospitals — the entire suite deploys on-premises inside your own perimeter with no external dependency, and we manage it remotely under a support contract. Data residency is not a paid add-on in BrilliantInsight; it is a deployment choice you make at the start and can change later.

Functional modules

Nine components covering the path from source system to a figure someone will act on.

Connectors

Sources

Pre-built connectors for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, REST APIs, SFTP file drops, Excel and CSV, plus native links to BrilliantEd, BrilliantCare, BrilliantRevenue, BrilliantHR and BrilliantProcure.

ETL Scheduling

Pipelines

Orchestrated extraction and transformation with dependency graphs, automatic retries, incremental loads, data quality tests, freshness monitoring, and alerting to your team when a source fails or arrives late.

Semantic Layer

Governance

Define every measure and dimension once, under version control, with an owner and a written definition, so a figure means the same thing in every dashboard and export.

Self-Service Dashboards

Analysis

Drag-and-drop analysis for business users, always within governed measures, with drill-down, cross-filtering, saved and shared views, and scheduled distribution to a recipient list as PDF or Excel.

Executive Scorecards

Performance

Track a defined set of indicators against targets by period, department and location, with red-amber-green status, variance commentary fields and history retained for board reporting.

Mobile Briefings

On the move

A daily briefing card on Android and iOS showing the handful of figures a principal officer needs, sized for a poor connection and readable before the morning meeting.

Alerting

Exceptions

Threshold, variance and anomaly alerts pushed by e-mail, SMS or mobile notification, with suppression rules so a genuine exception is not lost in routine noise.

Row-Level Security

Access control

Restrict what each user sees by branch, department, region or cost centre from a single policy, so one dashboard serves the whole organisation without leaking across boundaries.

Embedded Analytics API

Integration

Embed governed charts and query results in your own web or mobile application through a documented REST API and signed embed tokens, inheriting the same security policy.

Editions and licensing

Licensing is annual and based on named users plus connected sources. On-premises deployment carries the same licence fee; only hosting is removed. Data volume is not metered.

On-premises when residency matters

A large share of our intelligence work is for organisations that cannot put a customer or taxpayer record into a foreign cloud — commercial and microfinance banks, state revenue services, teaching hospitals and agencies handling citizen data. For those clients the entire BrilliantInsight stack runs inside their own perimeter, on their own hardware, with no outbound dependency of any kind.

We size the servers, install and harden the stack, hand your team documented runbooks, and manage it remotely through a controlled access path that your security officer approves and can revoke. Nothing leaves your building, and the licence costs the same as the hosted service.

  • Full stack on your hardware, no external calls required
  • Air-gapped update path for high-security environments
  • Remote management over a client-approved, revocable access route
  • Same licence fee as the hosted service
  • Transformation models in your own version-control system
  • Runbooks and handover so you are never locked in

How we implement BrilliantInsight

We deliver in short cycles against a first subject area rather than attempting to model the whole organisation before anyone sees a chart. First useful dashboards typically land in four to six weeks.

1

Requirements workshop

Two to four days with the executive sponsor and each data owner. We agree the decisions the dashboards must support, the first subject area, and — critically — a written definition of every disputed measure.

2

Configuration

We stand up the platform, connect the first sources read-only, and build the initial semantic model with owners assigned to each measure. Nothing is defined in a dashboard that is not defined in the model.

3

Data migration

Historical data is loaded and reconciled against your existing reports. Where the new figure differs from the old one we investigate and document why, because that reconciliation is what earns the platform its credibility.

4

Integration

Pipelines are scheduled with freshness monitoring, row-level security policies are mapped to your directory groups, and embedded analytics endpoints are provisioned for any application that needs them.

5

Training

Analysts are trained to extend the semantic model and build dashboards; business users are trained on self-service; executives get a short session on their scorecard and mobile briefing. Trainees leave able to work unaided.

6

Pilot

One department runs on BrilliantInsight for a full reporting cycle alongside its existing spreadsheets, and formally signs off that the platform figure is the one it will defend.

7

Go-live

The platform becomes the reporting system of record for the subject areas delivered. Legacy report files are archived read-only, and further subject areas are added in subsequent cycles.

8

Hypercare

Sixty days of enhanced support with weekly model reviews, pipeline monitoring, tuning of slow queries, and a documented handover of the model repository and runbooks to your own analysts.

Questions buyers ask

Can we run BrilliantInsight entirely on our own infrastructure?
Yes, and roughly half our intelligence clients do. The complete stack — storage, orchestration, semantic layer and dashboards — installs inside your perimeter with no outbound dependency, and we manage it remotely over an access route your security officer controls. Hosted deployment on BrilliantCloud in Kano with disaster recovery in Abuja is the alternative, and a hybrid split is possible where only aggregated data leaves your building.
How is data residency and NDPA compliance handled?
In every deployment model the data stays in Nigeria, either in your own building or on our infrastructure in Kano and Abuja. Row-level security limits what each user can see, all access is logged, and exports can be restricted or watermarked. We sign a data-processing agreement where we act as processor, and our information-security management system is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, which supplies most of the evidence a Nigeria Data Protection Act assessment requires.
Will the dashboards work over a slow connection?
They are built for it. Dashboards render from pre-aggregated tables rather than by scanning raw data at open time, so a typical page loads in under two seconds on a modest mobile connection. The mobile briefing is deliberately small — a handful of numbers, a sparkline, no heavy graphics — and caches the last briefing so a principal officer can read yesterday’s position with no signal at all.
What can it connect to?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, REST APIs, SFTP file drops, Excel and CSV, and the common Nigerian core banking and enterprise resource planning systems through their reporting interfaces. Our own products connect natively. Where a legacy system has no interface at all, we read from a replica or a nightly export rather than touching the production database.
What support and service levels apply?
Standard support runs 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday on +234 803 047 9666, with 24/7 cover available and usual for banks. Pipeline failures raise an alert to our operations centre as well as to your team, so a broken overnight load is normally fixed before the morning meeting. Enterprise clients receive a named service delivery manager and a monthly service review.
Who owns the models, and what happens if we leave?
The transformation and semantic models we build for you are yours, held in your own version-control repository in readable form, and you keep them whatever happens to our relationship. The platform software is licensed, with escrow available to Enterprise clients. On exit we export all curated data in open formats at no charge and hand over the runbooks.
Is training included, and will our analysts be able to work unaided?
That is the point of the engagement. Analyst, business-user and executive training is included in the implementation fee, and we deliberately hand the model repository to your analysts during hypercare rather than after it. Certified data analysis and engineering programmes are available through our ICT Training Academy, which has trained more than 6,400 graduates since 2016.

Data residency is a deployment choice, not an upsell

Where the law, your regulator or your own policy requires data to remain inside your building, BrilliantInsight deploys on-premises at the same licence fee as the hosted service. We will also complete your data-protection impact assessment with you and provide our ISO/IEC 27001:2022 statement of applicability for your compliance file. Write to [email protected].

Stop arguing about the numbers

Bring us one report that three departments disagree about. We will model it properly and show you a single governed figure, usually within two weeks.
