Careers at Brilliant Esystems
We build the software, networks and security operations that keep Nigerian institutions running. If you want demanding work, real ownership and colleagues who will teach you, start here.
Why Build Your Career Here
Brilliant Esystems Limited has been building enterprise technology from Kano since 2014. Today around 180 specialists work across our headquarters on Ahmadu Bello Way, our Abuja office in the Central Business District and our Lagos office on Victoria Island. We have delivered more than 320 projects, we serve over 40 public-sector institutions, and we keep more than 12,000 managed endpoints running at 99.95% uptime attainment. Everything on this page follows from that: the work is operational, it is measured, and somebody depends on it being right.
The practical consequence for an engineer is that you will not spend your first two years on a proof of concept that never ships. Our delivery teams are small — typically five to nine people — and each one owns a service end to end, from the design review through to the production rota. A backend engineer who joins the revenue platform team will write the code, review a colleague’s code, sit in the deployment call and answer the incident ticket if something breaks at 02:00. That is more responsibility than most people expect at their level, and it is why our engineers progress quickly.
We also invest in certification because our clients require it and because it makes people more employable. Ninety-six of our engineers currently hold a live vendor certification across Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, Fortinet and Oracle, and the company pays for the training and the examination. Our ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 registrations mean you will learn to work inside documented processes — change control, risk registers, evidence trails — which is a discipline that transfers anywhere you go afterwards.
Finally, we are a northern Nigerian firm that has stayed rooted in the north. A large share of our senior technical staff came up through our own graduate trainee programme and our ICT Training Academy in Kano. If you are from Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kaduna or Bauchi and you have been told that a serious technology career means relocating to Lagos, we would like you to test that assumption against what we do here.

Our Hiring Process
Seven stages, four to six weeks end to end for most roles. We publish the turnaround we work to and we tell you where you stand at each stage — including when the answer is no.
Application
You email your CV to [email protected] quoting the role reference, or apply through the vacancy listing. Our People & Culture team acknowledges every application within 2 working days with a tracking reference. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, the message did not reach us — please resend.
Screening
A recruiter and the hiring manager review the CV against the published requirements. We aim to complete screening within 5 working days of the closing date. Shortlisted applicants get a 20-minute telephone conversation covering your experience, notice period and salary expectation. Everyone else receives a written decline.
Technical assessment
A practical exercise sized to take no more than 4 hours, drawn from work we actually do — a small service to build, a network fault to diagnose, a log set to triage, or a requirements document to critique. You get 5 calendar days to submit and we mark within 3 working days. We never ask for unpaid work on a live client deliverable.
Technical panel interview
Ninety minutes with two or three engineers from the practice you would join, usually including your prospective team lead. We walk through your assessment submission, then discuss design trade-offs, failure modes and how you have handled production incidents. Scheduled within 10 working days of your assessment result.
Values interview
Forty-five minutes with a director and a colleague from outside the hiring practice. This covers how you work with people — handling disagreement, giving and taking review comments, working with clients under pressure, and what you expect from a manager. Normally held within 3 working days of the technical panel.
Offer and references
A verbal offer within 5 working days of the final interview, followed by a written contract setting out salary, level, benefits and reporting line. We take two references and verify certificates and NYSC discharge or exemption documents. Nothing is contingent on any payment from you at any point.
Onboarding
New joiners start on the first Monday of the month wherever possible. Week one covers company induction, information security and ISO process training, laptop issue and account provisioning. You are assigned a buddy for your first 90 days and you meet your manager weekly against a written 30/60/90-day plan.
Career Tracks, Levels and Salary Bands
Four tracks, each with published levels and indicative annual gross bands in Naira for 2026. Bands are reviewed every January. Actual offers depend on assessed level, location and, on the commercial track, on-target commission. Engineering and delivery levels are deliberately parallel, so a senior engineer and a senior project manager sit at the same grade.
